From order to doorstep
Confirm the dimensions
You send the opening, we send back a drawing with the cut list on it — confirmed by both sides before wood is bought. Fifty-two percent of catalog work fits standard sizes; the rest is custom cut free.
The bench week
Your piece is cut in its own run and finished flat — three coats of hardwax oil, cured on racks, never rushed with heat.
Delivery & hang
Catalog pieces ship crated, or ride the van if you are inside the hour radius. Hanging, tuning and the nickel-slide check are part of the price, not an extra.
Recent runs off the bench
Catalog work photographs like custom work because it is the same bench, the same hands, the same oil. Lines differ; the standard does not.
I ordered a mantel the way I order a book. It arrived four Thursdays later, was hung the same morning, and the price on the card was the price on the invoice. I am still slightly stunned.
We have bought Longwall bays three times over four years — nursery, study, and finally the whole parlor wall. Bay eleven matches bay one to the sixteenth.

The catalog is fixed prices over a moving bench — this is what the moving part looks like.

Stock pulled, jointed and roughed to the cut list; offcuts return to the rack as the next order’s short pieces.
Tue–Wed
Joinery days
Mortises, grooves and hinge gains cut; every piece stamped with its order number and its position in the assembly.
Thu
Assembly & oil
Glue-up in the morning, first coat at noon, second by close — the third waits for Friday’s daylight.
Fri
Crate & manifest
Final coat inspected, hardware bagged and labeled, crate built to the piece. The van loads at four.
The card, held
Catalog prices move once a year, in January, in daylight. What you order in March is invoiced at the March card even if the bench slips a week — the calendar is our risk, not your surcharge.

Questions the catalog raises
Is catalog work lower quality than custom?
It is the same bench doing both, and the warranty does not know which side of the shop a piece came from. Catalog means the drawing already exists and the price already held — the wood, the joinery and the oil are identical.
What if my wall is not standard?
Then it is the Odd Wall line, quoted inside forty-eight hours against your measurements. Custom cuts of catalog lines are free; wholly new pieces are custom-priced and still bench-scheduled like everything else.
Do you ship?
Crated freight anywhere the carrier goes, with hang-by-others instructions that a competent hand can follow. Inside the hour radius of Ollerton the van delivers and we hang it ourselves — that part is in the price.
How does the warranty work?
Five years on every joint, catalog and custom alike. A photo of the problem starts it; a visit ends it. In four years the ledger holds eleven claims, all resolved on the first visit.

Line name and rough dimensions are enough to start; a photograph of the wall is better. The card price is the invoice price, whichever way it arrives.
