Architectural concrete · Papermill Row · a studio of eleven
The grey that the magazines photograph.
Fairface designs, forms and pours fine flatwork — sandblasted floors, board-formed entries, walkways set to the façade’s module. Drawn to scale, batched at 4,000 psi, finished without a grinder in sight.
Est. 2016 · 148 commissions drawn and poured · studio@fairface.example · (555) 388-4107
The studio books two commissions a month and holds that line on purpose — the calendar is honest, and the waiting list is usually nine deep.
Services
Five crafts, one studio
01
Sandblasted floors
Paste ground to three millimetres, then blasted to open the local aggregate, densified against oil and wine, sealed matte. The floor reads as terrazzo poured on your own ground — because that is literally what it is.
02
Board-formed entries & steps
Poured against sawn fir plywood so the grain prints the concrete; tie-holes plugged and left honest. Arrised edges that shed water, take a stroller and never chip a shin.
03
Seeded & exposed aggregate
River gravel or crushed basalt broadcast into the surface, washed at the right hour, sealed at day 28. The finish that forgives a dropped glass and a leaf-fall October with equal grace.
04
Walkways to the façade module
Widths set by the door casings, joints laid on the module of the elevation, integral color read against the roofline in daylight. A walk that looks designed because it was drawn — and the drawing is yours to keep.
05
Courtyards & site slabs
Fire-pit cores, rail sleeves and lighting conduit set before the truck arrives, never drilled after. One placement, no cold joints, a matte seal that shrugs off Papermill winters.
What we do
Studio method, in three pictures
The blast, timed
Sandblasting is a deadline craft: too early and the aggregate tears out, too late and it never shows. We test a metre-square in your own slab and blast the field to match the sample you approved — wetted, in daylight, on site.
The drawing is the quote
Every commission starts as a scaled drawing — joint lines, falls, sleeves, finishes — and the drawing is what we price from. When the number arrives, nothing in it is a surprise, because you have already seen every line it pays for.
Sealed once, scheduled forever
Day 28: washed, densified, sealed matte. Then the studio diarizes the reseal at three years and telephones YOU — the finish stays a finish instead of becoming a chore with a receipt.
Since 2016
The record, in figures
A studio of eleven pours nothing it has not drawn, and draws nothing it cannot pour. The figures below are counted from the studio ledger, not estimated from memory.
We specify Fairface the way we specify a millworker: give them the drawings, trust the result. The sandblasted floor at Printworks won the interior award, and the jury’s photograph is of a slab.
Bring us drawings — or a napkin.
The measure visit is free within forty minutes of Papermill Row: grades shot, a scaled drawing, and a written number the same week. Two commissions a month; the calendar is honest.
