Backcourt pours game courts that drain, cart paths that survive the mowers, and barn floors a loader can turn on — 4,000-psi air-entrained concrete on compacted aggregate, every court shot to a one-percent fall so the only water on your playing surface is the rain currently falling on it.
Court season runs May to September — the striping crew needs a dry 48 and the concrete needs its 28 days first, so spring courts are poured in April and played on by the Fourth. The layout visit is free and happens in any month, including the ones with snow on them.

Game courts
Tennis, pickleball, half-court basketball and multi-use pads — a five-inch 4,000-psi air-entrained slab on proof-rolled aggregate, shot to a one-percent fall toward a field drain at the net line, control joints sawed within twelve hours on a ten-foot grid and hidden under the paint where the layout allows. The slab cures a full twenty-eight days before a drop of striping touches it, because paint on green concrete is a peeling schedule, not a colour.

Cart paths & grounds walks
Golf and grounds paths poured in one continuous placement per run, broom-dragged across the fall so a cart tyre finds grip in the wet, with joints placed AT the curves where a path genuinely turns — the one lesson every cracked path in the county teaches. Four inches of concrete on six of compacted aggregate: a loaded mower at five days, a maintenance truck inside the month.

Barn & shop floors
Six-inch slabs on a vapor barrier, power-troweled hard, jointed on the column lines so a feed cart and a loader each know where the movement lives. Grooved finishes for livestock aisles, a wash-down drain set wherever the hose actually goes, and the sill poured flush so nothing trips on the way in with a wheelbarrow.

Striping & the court package
Game lines laid out by laser and tape, painted in colours chosen from a fan laid on your own cured slab — plus hoop sleeves, net posts and volleyball footings set before the pour, never drilled after. The striping quote is separate, honest, and held for the same sixty days as the concrete.
Three companies quoted us a court. Backcourt was the only one who talked about where the WATER would go before where the lines would go. Four seasons of thunderstorms later, play resumes ten minutes after the rain stops — the drain at the net line does exactly what the drawing said it would.

How a court happens
Layout to stripes
Four movements, the same on every court — the fall is decided before the forms are, and the paint is decided last of all, because concrete does not care about colours.

The pour
Subbase proof-rolled, forms pinned to the string line, post sleeves set in position — then one continuous 4,000-psi placement finished at the sheen.
Cure & joints
Control joints sawed within twelve hours on the ten-foot grid, curing membrane the same afternoon, and twenty-eight days of patience enforced by calendar, not willpower.
Stripes & handover
Lines laid by laser, painted in your colours, walked together — warranty signed and the first game scheduled before we leave the driveway.
They poured two courts on a Tuesday and striped them on a Tuesday five weeks later, and the only thing that moved in between was the thermometer. Neighbours have since had three more done off the strength of ours.
The barn floor carries a loaded feed mixer over the joints a hundred times a winter and the wheels have never found a lip. The drain placement was argued about for ten minutes on site — they were right.
Our old path cracked across the wetland curve in year two. Backcourt’s replacement put the joints AT the curve on purpose, and six mower seasons later the curve is the only part without a mark on it.
Falls, paint, frost
Asked at every layout
The three questions every court owner asks, answered the way we answer them standing on the stakes.
Why does a court need a fall at all?
Because standing water is both a safety problem and a slab problem. Every court we pour is shot to a one-percent fall — roughly an inch in eight feet — toward a drain at the net line or the low corner. Play resumes minutes after rain, and the slab never sits in its own puddle, which is what actually pits a finish over the years.
When can it be striped?
At full cure — twenty-eight days — with a moisture test before the first coat. Paint applied to green concrete traps the water still leaving the slab and peels in sheets within a season. The calendar is the cheapest tool on the job and we let it work.
Will frost heave my court?
Not this one. The subbase is compacted aggregate that drains, the mix is air-entrained at 5.7% so freezing water has somewhere to go, and the joints are sawed within twelve hours on a grid that keeps panels small. Frost needs trapped water and large panels to do damage; we decline to supply either.
Can you pour just a half-court or a shooting pad?
Gladly — down to about 400 square feet of court. Below that the truck minimums bite, and we will say so on the phone rather than pad the number until it looks like a court price.
Five years on the slab and the joints
If a court we poured settles, a joint spalls or the finish delaminates inside five years — striped or plain — we repair it free, materials and labor. The paint is warranted through its second season; the concrete through its fifth winter.
