Vise & Vein fabricates for four kitchen studios and sells direct at the same rate: your slabs or ours, laser-templated, CNC-cut, edges finished at the bench. Fabrication-only for the trade and the confident homeowner, installed by us for everyone else — one card, nobody’s margin stacked on top.
How it goes
Scan to set, in five moves
The same sequence on every job — the only variable is your project.
Day 0
The scan
Laser over the cabinets or over your existing tops — studios send us the drawing, homeowners get the tripod. Either way the file is the same and the tolerance is the same.
Day 1
The fixed quote
Metres from the scan, material from the card, edges from the edge list — one number in writing inside forty-eight hours, held for sixty.
Week 1–2
The cut
Nesting maximises the slab and the remnant credit; sink, hob and tap holes are routed; mitered pairs clamp overnight; the bench finishes every arris by hand.
Week 2–3
The set (or the crate)
Our setters land it, level to the cabinets the laser actually met — or the tops crate up for your own installer, wrapped, labelled and loaded with the seam map taped to the lid.
The week after
The check-in
A call, a care card, and on natural stone a sealer check booked before we hang up. The trade gets the same call; that is why the trade stays.

The fabrication card
One card for the trade and the homeowner, on purpose. Studios get weekly delivery runs and remnant credits; direct clients get the same benches and the same setters. The only number we never publish is a design margin, because there is not one.

The shop behind the level crossing
A bridge saw, a five-axis CNC, a hand bench under north light and a remnant yard the studios dig through on Fridays. The vein-matching happens at nesting: bookmatched pairs stay consecutive, seam maps are planned to the veining rather than to the offcut rack, and the setters who land your stone have usually already argued about it with the saw.
The file is yours, either way
Every scan leaves with its owner. If a top we cut does not fit because the template was wrong, the recut, the stone and the second visit are on the Junction — studios and homeowners alike.

The five that cross the counter every week. The shop line at the bottom runs six to six, and the person who answers is beside the person who nests the slabs.
Will you fabricate slabs I bought elsewhere?
Gladly, at $36 a foot plus edges — and we will tell you before the truck arrives if the bundle is a bad layup, a hidden resin repair or a kiln crack. Some bargains are not, and hearing it first is free.
How do seams and veining interact?
The seam map is nested to the veining, not to the offcut rack. On bookmatched runs the vein crosses the joint; on quiet granites the joint is closed in tinted epoxy and disappears. You approve the map on screen before anything is cut.
What about porosity and sealing?
Quartz: non-porous, nothing to do. Granite and quartzite: sealed on the bench, fifteen years, renewable around twelve. Marble: sealed, honest and etch-prone, with a sample card that shows what lemon does before you commit. No stone leaves the Junction with a promise it cannot keep.
Can my own installer fit what you cut?
Yes — crated, wrapped, labelled, with the seam map and the setting drawings taped inside the lid. Half our fabrication-only work goes out like that, and the fitters send us work back, which tells you how the tolerances behave on site.
What is in the trade account?
The card less eight percent, weekly scheduled runs, remnant credits against future jobs, and the same forty-eight-hour quote window. Four studios run on it today; the fifth slot is the reason the light stays on late.
We have sent the Junction every stone job for six years. The seam maps arrive nested to the veining, the crates are labelled like pharmacy, and the one time a wall was out by more than the file said, their fitter and my fitter settled it over the phone in ten minutes.
Fabrication-only on slabs I haggled for at a reclamation yard — every other shop doubled the rate or declined. They flagged one bundle as a bad risk, were right, and had the replacement nested by Thursday.
The bookmatched pair on our bar is the reason the room works. Two consecutive slabs, one fold down the middle, seams hiding inside grey veining — the health inspector calls it the cleanest counter in three parishes, and she is right.
