The whole card, painted on the barn wall since 2014. Template, fabrication and install are one number per metre; the remnant rack behind the barn sells half-slabs at forty percent off for vanities and sills while they last.

How it goes
Four moves, one crew
Day 0
The barn and the racks
Walk in, read the wall, lean on the slabs. The bundles are priced on the rack and the remnant rack is behind — Friday afternoons are when the market regulars come to dig.
Day 1
The laser template
Two hours over your existing tops; the seam map and every cutout approved on screen before we pack the tripod away.
Week 2
The barn floor
The file drives the CNC, mitered pairs clamp overnight, and every edge comes to the hand bench under the north skylight.
Install day
The set
Old top off and gone by nine, stone levelled and seamed by two, kitchen yours again by four. The card said what it cost; the invoice repeats it.
The wall said seventy-five. The invoice said seventy-five. I have bought two kitchens in my life and this was the first where nobody sighed before showing me a number.
They templated on a Tuesday with a laser on a tripod and the marble landed Friday week. The seam sits inside a grey vein and my fingernail still cannot find it.
Half a slab off the remnant rack, cut the same week, forty percent off the card. Two vanities and a window sill — and they still sealed the stone before it left the barn.
Straight answers
Why paint the rates on the wall?
Because every shop in the county keeps a rate card in a drawer; ours is where you can see it, and has been since 2014. If your job is unusual — a five-metre single slab, a stone we do not stock — the quote says so before you sign anything, in writing, at card rates.
What is a remnant, exactly?
The offcut left when a big job uses a slab down past half. Same stone, forty percent off, ideal under about three metres — vanities, sills, benches. The rack turns over monthly; Friday is the day to look.
Quartz, granite or marble — which one?
Quartz if you want zero porosity and never want to think about it; granite if you want natural stone that forgives a hot pan; marble if you want the one that ages like a story and etches like a diary. The drawbacks of each are said out loud here, at card rates, with sample cards in hand.
Do you do plumbing or electrics?
No. We cut stone. We hold the sink cutout to your fixture’s template so your plumber guesses at nothing, and we coordinate the morning with whoever you hire — most of the Ashes trades already know the barn schedule.
How fast, really?
Template within the week of the signed card, install about fourteen days later, and the kitchen itself is down for exactly one day. Repairs and remnant cuts often go out the same week they are asked for.
Stone does not negotiate. Neither does the wall it is priced on.
