What the ledger covers

01

Emergency response

Furnace out at midnight, compressor seized on the hottest Saturday of July: 90-minute median arrival across Dunmore County, a truck stocked for 9 out of 10 repairs on the first visit, and the daytime rate whatever the clock says.

02

Heat pumps, sized by arithmetic

A Manual J load calculation on every quote — room by room, not by square footage folklore. Cold-climate units rated to −13°F, ducted or ductless, with the utility rebate forms filed by us and deducted from the invoice.

03

Furnaces, boilers & the honest read

A combustion analyzer on every service call, so a cracked heat exchanger is a measurement and not a sales technique. Two-stage 96% furnaces, combi boilers, and the numbers left on your kitchen table.

04

The maintenance ledger

Two visits a year — cooling in spring, heating in fall — logged against your system’s serial number, so the record of what was done, and when, outlives whoever did it.

January 14th, −4°F outside, furnace making a noise like a coin in a dryer. Called at 9:40, tech at 11:05, inducer motor replaced by 1:30. The invoice matched the rate card to the dollar — on a Saturday night. I checked.

Two other companies quoted me a 3.5-ton unit for a 1,600 sq ft ranch. TrueNorth ran the Manual J, showed me the printout, and installed 2.5 tons. The house has never been more even, and the bill was four figures smaller.
P. Halloway · Heat pump install, Bramble Falls
Their maintenance plan is two real tune-ups, not a filter upsell visit. The tech spends ninety minutes, leaves a sheet of measured numbers, and last fall caught a failing capacitor before it took the compressor with it.

The flat-price ledger

You approve the number before work starts, and the invoice repeats it to the penny. If the job runs long or a part surprises us, that is our problem — the ledger does not get edited after the fact.

An HVAC quote you cannot check is a weather report: interesting, unfalsifiable, and no use at midnight in January.

Asked at the counter

Is the no-overtime promise real? What is the catch?

It is real and it is boring: our overtime costs are budgeted into the business, not into your emergency. Every invoice since 2004 shows the daytime rate on nights, weekends and holidays. Bring your worst-case date to the counter and we will pull one.

What is a Manual J, and why do you keep mentioning it?

It is the ACCA load-calculation protocol: your rooms, windows, insulation and orientation go in, and the heating and cooling loads each room needs come out. It is how a system gets sized to your house instead of to a rule of thumb. The printout is yours to keep, even if you never hire us.

Do heat pumps actually work in a Dunmore County winter?

The cold-climate units we install hold full output to around 5°F and keep running to −13°F, which covers all but a handful of nights in our records. The Manual J tells us whether you need backup strips — and for most insulated houses the answer is no.

Which brands do you install?

The ones the load calculation and your ductwork pick. We are a dealer for two manufacturers and honest about both: the sizing and the duct sealing matter more to your comfort than the logo on the cabinet.

What happens if I cancel the maintenance plan?

Nothing punitive. Your ledger stays on file, your tune-up pricing stays at the member rate for the rest of the season, and the warranty on equipment we installed stays intact — it is tied to the install, not to the plan.

Put your number on the ledger.

Tell us what the house is doing — or not doing. A technician replies the same business day, and emergencies should skip this form entirely and call.
