Restoration masonry · Old Fenwick · the lime-mortar standard since 1984
The ledger is the sales pitch.
Quarterbond repoints, rebuilds and relines — every figure below counted, dated and available to drive past. Lime mortar on every wall built before 1930; the portland tin stays on the shelf where it belongs.
Repointing runs April to October and the season is spoken for by late March. Surveys, quotes and emergency tarping happen all year — the frost does not negotiate, so neither do we.

Services
The three trades
01
Lime repointing
Joints raked by hand — never ground — then flushed full in two passes with natural hydraulic lime matched to the chip from your wall. Struck to the profile the wall was born with: flush, weather-struck or bucket-handle, read from the elevation before we mix.
02
Chimneys & flues
Crowns cast to shed water, flues relined with tile, caps fitted and the draw measured with a gauge while you watch. A chimney is a machine for moving smoke — we treat the survey like a machine inspection, because it is one.
03
Walls, steps & stoops
Bulged walls dismantled numbered and re-laid in their own stone; bluestone treads on full mortar beds over compacted subbase. No dot-and-dab, no voids for frost — a stoop you salt in January and load with a piano in June.
How the ledger fills
Survey, rake, point, cure
Four movements, the same every time — the only variable is your wall. The warranty is signed at the end of the fourth, and it runs twenty-five years.
The survey & the chip
Mortar chip taken, matched, and a written square-foot number left with you — good for sixty days.
Rake by hand
Joints opened to twice their width with chisels, vacuumed, depth-checked joint by joint.
Point in lime
NHL 3.5 in two passes, struck to the original profile, brushed at leather-hard.
Cure & warrant
Six weeks of carbonation, misted and covered — then the 25-year warranty, in your name.
Every other bid arrived as a number on a clipboard. Quarterbond arrived as a ledger — walls, dates, streets I could drive down that afternoon. I drove down three. Then I stopped interviewing masons.
Twenty-five years, transferable
If a joint we pointed fails, or a matched brick reads wrong in daylight, we return and correct it at no charge — and the warranty follows the house, not the invoice. Our work is the warranty; the paper just says so in fewer words.
