Asphalt paving & sealcoating · Dunmore · Harrowgate · Since 2004

Laid hot. Rolled tight. Crowned to shed the March melt.

Meridian Asphalt lays residential drives and commercial lots at 2.5 inches in two compacted lifts over prepared base, tack coat between every surface, edges hand-tamped where the roller cannot reach. Square-foot prices below — the same card every estimate is written from.

The Meridian standard

A driveway is drainage with asphalt on it

Most drive failures are water wearing a costume. Every Meridian mat is crowned at two percent, cut to move melt toward the ditch or the drain, and laid over base we would park our own trucks on. The asphalt is the easy part — the grade underneath it is the product.

Three-year warranty on the mat

Cracking from base failure, edge crumble, standing water after a rain — if any of it shows inside three years, we repair it at no charge. The warranty is printed on the estimate, not remembered from a handshake.

How it goes

From measure to first car on

The same sequence on every job — the only variable is your project.

  1. Day 0

    Measure & base check

We measure the drive, read the existing base and the fall, and mark where water will go. Base that has failed gets rebuilt before any asphalt touches it — a new mat over a bad base is a scheduled redo.

  2. Day 1

    Edge prep & tack

Edges are cut square and lined, old surfaces get their tack coat of SS-1h, and the planer runs where the overlay needs room. The drive is ready for hot mix the same afternoon.

  3. Day 1–2

    The lay, two lifts

A 1.5-in binder lift goes down first, then a 1-in wearing course — each one compacted behind the screed. One thick mat is faster and worse; two lifts are the whole difference between a drive and a five-year band-aid.

  4. Day 2

    Roll & compact

Three passes of the roller, joints matched hot to hot, and hand-tamping everywhere the drum cannot reach. Density is checked before the mat cools, not assumed after it hardens.

  5. Day 3+

    Cure & handback

Foot traffic in a day, cars in three to five depending on heat, and a care card with the dates on it. First sealcoat at ninety days, then every three to four years — we will remind you, not chase you.

Six surfaces from the last two seasons, shot the week the lines dried. The sheen on a fresh mat is honest advertising — what matters is that the fourth winter looks like the first.

Dunmore & Harrowgate say

Driveways that drain

Our old drive was a river every spring. Meridian rebuilt the base, laid two lifts, and cut a crown that moves water to the ditch instead of our garage. Three March melts later there is not a single crack worth sealing.
P. and S. Doiron · Full rebuild, Dunmore
Three bids, and Meridian was the only one that mentioned a tack coat, let alone two lifts. The crew showed the density numbers unprompted. The lot they paved for us draws compliments from customers, which I did not expect asphalt to do.
L. Aldous · Retail lot, Harrowgate
They milled and overlaid our half-mile lane in two days and hand-tamped the last forty feet where the big roller could not turn. The transition to the garage slab is so flush a snowblower crosses it without a bump.
