Copperline
Sound familiar?
A metal roof from a catalogue is a saddle on a racehorse.
Screw-down panels, trim from a box, and a crew that met metal last Tuesday. Copperline is a metal shop with a roofing licence: we fold our seams on site, make our own trim, and match the patina you want — day one or year fifty.
- Seams folded on your roof A portable brake on site, every seam folded to your actual roof — not a shipping crate of almost-fits panels trimmed into place.
- Patina planned, not hoped for Bright copper, pre-weathered, or zinc that stays matte — we quote the finish at the age you want it to read. The green roof in the old photographs was a decision.
- Trim made in our shop Ridges, valleys, flashing and finials fabricated to the project. Details are where metal roofs are won, and we own the details.

The studio visit
Architectural drawings, site lines, and the patina conversation — what the roof should read at year zero and year thirty.
The shop drawings
Panel layout, trim details and seam direction drawn for YOUR roof. Approved by you (and often your architect) before metal is ordered.
The fold & the fix
Metal formed on site, seamed by hand where machines cannot go, and detailed with trim from our shop. Two to three weeks on site.
Our architect had given up on finding a roofer who would fabricate the finials. Copperline drew them, folded them, and the heritage board photographed THEM for their newsletter.
Zinc on a modern barn, matte on day one — no shiny-roof decade. They understood the assignment before we finished the sentence.
Copper gutters and a copper roof that will outlive both of us and look better every decade. Our kids inherit the patina. That was worth every square.

Is metal really worth triple the shingle number?
Over the life of the building, arithmetic says yes: one metal roof equals three shingle roofs, none of the redecking risk, and insurance discounts in hail country. Over a decade it is a luxury; over a century it is a bargain. We quote both honestly.
Can you match a heritage roof?
It is our specialty — profiles, seam spacing and patina matched to the original, with the documentation heritage boards ask for. Four approvals and counting.
Noise in the rain?
Properly insulated and decked, a metal roof is quieter than shingle — the drumming you fear is the barn-roof-on-purlins of old installs. Ours sit on solid deck with underlayment, and rain sounds like rain.
Do you work with architects?
Preferably. Shop drawings, sample panels and the patina schedule are exactly what a design team needs — and about half our commissions arrive architect-first.
Roof it once. Let the grandkids argue over it.
Commissions begin with the studio visit — drawings welcome, dreams expected.
