A wall should outlive the note that paid for it.
What we hang
Four disciplines, one crew
Longview does one thing — the skin of the house — and runs it as four disciplines. The crew that starts your wall is the crew that finishes it; in twenty-six years no subcontractor has touched a Longview wall.
Fiber-cement lap
Hardie at a 7.25″ exposure, blind-nailed on gauge, ColorPlus factory finish or primed for site paint — the wall the tall-grass wind respects. From $9.20 / sq ft.
Insulation-backed panel
Cement panel laminated to a continuous insulating core, R-4 at the face of the stud, fastened on its own engineered track — added warmth and a quieter house in one pass. From $11.60 / sq ft.
Engineered wood
LP SmartSide, treated strand core, primed and sprayed two coats in the street’s own color. From $7.25 / sq ft on sheltered walls.
Millwork & trim
Cement corner boards and casings, ventilated soffit, wrapped fascia — the frame that makes the field read built. $9–14 per linear foot.
The standard
The oath, in practice
Every Longview wall is torn off to bare sheathing — no overlays, ever. Wrapped and cap-nailed before a board goes up. Hung blind on gauge with a 10 mm rain-screen gap, joints sealed at 3/16″. Storm-rated to 130 mph as drawn in the manual, not as adjusted for convenience. That is the whole oath; the rest is arithmetic.
Five and thirty, in your name
Five years on our labor — fastening, flashing, sealing, every caulk joint, re-done free. Up to thirty on the board and the factory finish, prorated, transferable once. Both registered for you the week of the walk; both in the drawer before the truck leaves.

Recent seasons
Kept walls, tall-grass counties
Six walls from Fielders Cross to Arkind, photographed at the walk. No staging, no color work — the finish came from the factory that way.
How it goes
Three weeks, told in five entries
Day 0
The measure
Walls measured flat, openings counted, samples left in your light for a week. The quote is fixed before the order is placed, and the ColorPlus lead time is told to you straight — three to four weeks.
Days 1–3
Tear-off & repair
Old siding off to sheathing, forty years of prairie weather inspected and repaired where it got in, photographed before the wrap hides it.
Days 4–5
Wrap & flash
House-wrap lapped shingle-style, seams taped and cap-nailed, integrated flashings at every opening, kick-outs at the rakes. Watertight every night, from here to the walk.
Days 6–15
The hang
Starter to a laser, blind-nailed on gauge, 10 mm battens behind every course. The gauge sheet stays taped to the job box where you and the county inspector can both read it.
Days 16–18
Seal, sweep, walk
Joints sealed at 3/16″, second coat where site-sprayed, magnet sweep twice, warranties registered, touch-up kit in the garage.
The record, in figures
The counties say
Second owners write back
The second-owner test is real — we are the second owners. The Hardie went up in 2006 on the house we bought in 2022, and the seller’s disclosure still had the Longview warranty folder in it. Sage field, bone trim, not one caulk line failed. We had them do the garage last spring.
The insulated panels were quoted straight: they told us the sheltered east wall did not need them and knocked it off the order. A crew that subtracts from its own invoice is a crew you call back.
Our adjuster wanted patch-and-paint. Longview photographed forty-one broken boards from the ladder, wrote the scope to code, and met him at the wall. Full elevation, agreed number, hung before the first frost.
Before you call
Asked at the kitchen table
The five every first call reaches. If yours is not here, the shop line at the bottom of the page runs seven to five, counties-wide.
What does "no overlays, ever" actually protect me from?
Trapped moisture and a voided fastener schedule. An overlay screws new siding to old, hides the sheathing, and hands the manufacturer grounds to decline the warranty claim you will eventually need. Every Longview wall goes on bare, wrapped sheathing — the only wall the oath covers.
Is the insulation-backed panel worth it?
On an exposed wall, yes: R-4 continuous at the stud face, a quieter house, and the siding rides its own track so the foam never carries the board. On a sheltered wall we say so and price plain board — we would rather undersell a panel than explain a drum.
How do you treat the yard?
Plantings photographed before the first ladder, tarps under every tear, planks under the dumpster, magnet sweeps daily. The tall-grass counties judge a crew by the state of the drive at the end, and so do we.
What if the weather turns mid-job?
The wrap is the weather skin, and it is on before the boards are. Storm days are printed into the schedule as buffer — a green forecast is a bonus, a gray one is a phone call, and neither is a surprise invoice.
How do the warranties transfer?
The manufacturer’s paper transfers once, with one signature — we file it for you at the walk. Our five-year labor warranty transfers with the house outright. When the second owner calls us, and they do, the folder is already in their drawer.
