Foxlowe’s meter prices the day in three bands, and the expensive one is the one you actually live in: cooking, laundry, lights, the television — five to nine, every day, at three times the noon rate. An array without storage sells its best hours back at wholesale and buys its worst ones at retail. We fix exactly that arithmetic, and the monitoring page proves it nightly.

Shade-modelled to the tree and quoted off twelve months of your meter — then timed against the bands so the noon surplus lands in the battery instead of the utility’s wholesale account. String or micro as the roof argues; the honest array is often smaller than the catalogue one, and always better aimed.

Batteries & the evening dispatch

LFP storage that charges on the cheap band, holds it through the afternoon, and carries the house across five-to-nine automatically. The dispatch curve is drawn at design from your own load history — the fridge, the range, the homework lights — and the app shows the meter standing still while the street’s doesn’t.

The charger talks to the same controller: the car drinks after nine at 9¢, topped from the battery when the evening ran light, and never from the 34¢ band it used to drink from. Most households find the car was a third of the expensive hours all along, and nobody had ever priced it.

Doesn’t a battery just move the bill around?

It moves it downhill. Noon production is worth 11¢ sold and 34¢ avoided — banking it and spending it yourself captures the difference instead of the utility’s margin. The app prints the arithmetic nightly; the median member household finds 82% of its evening load carried by stored sun, which is a number, not a vibe.

What happens through a winter week?

The model plans for it: shorter harvests, longer evenings, the discharge curve flattened to what the week can actually bank. Hard weeks lean on the night band — 9¢ after nine — and the guarantee floor covers the production side, storm weeks included. Winter is why we size to the solstice load and never the July one.

Is this the same as a backup generator?

Quieter, faster and without fuel. The transfer lands in about twenty milliseconds — the clocks do not blink — and the named circuits carry on for hours, not the seconds a portable genset gives you between refills. And between outages it earns its keep every single evening, which is a hobby a generator does not have.

Can you add storage to my existing array?

Usually, yes — the retrofit on this page is exactly that. We read a year of your meter, size the cabinet to the evening rather than the array, and draw the dispatch curve to fit both. The production guarantee attaches to what we model; the evening arithmetic attaches to the load history, and we show you both before you sign.

What does the monitoring actually show?

Three lines — generation, household load, battery state — and a fourth for the meter, which is the one that pays the mortgage on the idea. Every evening you can watch the meter line go flat at five and stay flat to nine. Customers describe this as unnecessary and then check it nightly; both are correct.
