The coast book

Two outfits quoted us a full tear-off of the south gable. Tinaja scanned it, found the damage stopped at the parapet, cut out forty square feet and matched the texture so well the painter asked which section was new. Three weeks start to wash-down, exactly on the calendar they handed us.
Three weeks, they said, and I did not believe a plaster crew could spell it. Scratch, brown, colour, wash-down — every date on the calendar they printed, and the wall has taken two summers of belt sun without a single map crack.
The re-colour cost a third of the re-side the last company pushed. The pigment is in the coat, not on it — a scratch from the grill shows the same colour underneath, which is the whole argument, and they proved it on a sample first.
They handed me a calendar with cure dates on it before I signed anything. When the second coat waited two extra days for a cold night, they told me before I asked. The wall is beautiful; the paperwork is what sold the neighbours.

Is three weeks really enough?
For a typical whole house, yes — because the calendar is built from the chemistry, not around it. Scratch cures two days, brown cures seven, colour goes on per elevation in one wet edge, and the wash-down closes it out. Bigger houses take longer and the quote says so in writing.
What is EIFS, and why does it fail?
Exterior insulation and finish system — foam, mesh and coatings over a weather barrier. It fails where water gets behind it: a flat sill, an unsealed trim, a kick-out somebody omitted. We scan before we quote, because the damage you can see is rarely the damage there is.
Re-colour or re-side?
If the wall is sound — and the probes say so, not the eye — a re-colour in integral pigment at $3.40 buys a decade or two for a third of the money. If the readings say the wall is wet behind the coat, no finish on earth fixes that, and we will say so and quote the real job.
How do you match an existing colour?
With a troweled sample cured on your wall in your light — wet stucco lies about its colour, and we do not guess from a fan deck. Integral colour means the sample is the actual batch, shrunk down to a board.
What happens to my garden?
Sheeted within fifteen feet, scaffold on planks, and a wash-down pass at the end that treats the beds more gently than the trucks. The belt runs on citrus and gravel; we have learned to work around both.
