Yoga · Breath · Stillness — Willow Creek
An hour that belongs to your nervous system
Moss & Breath teaches yoga for the bodies people actually have: desks, scars, pregnancies, and minds that won't shut up. Beginners genuinely welcome — the first class is free and the door opens ten minutes early.

Beginner-safe, always
Every class offers the version of each shape your body can do today. The teacher demonstrates three options and your neighbour never watches.
The room itself
Fifteen mats, cork floor, plants that are genuinely thriving, and light that flatters nobody and calms everybody.
Trauma-aware teaching
Hands-off assists unless you opt in with the consent card on your mat. Music low, lights never fully off, exits always visible.
First-timer's guide
What actually happens in class
No chanting, no sanskrit pop quiz, no pretzel expectations. Here is the whole mystery, demystified.
Arrive 10 early
Shoes at the door, phone in the basket, mat where the teacher can see you. The studio provides everything but leggings.
Centering, not chanting
Two minutes seated, a breath or two, and the teacher names the shape of the class. Nothing to believe in; just the exhale.
Move at your pace
Cues for three versions of everything. Child's pose is always the right answer, and the teacher means it.
Savasasa, properly
Ten full minutes at the end — the part everyone secretly comes for, guarded like the last cookie.
I came for flexibility and stayed because it's the only hour a week my brain stops tabulating things. The consent-card thing sounds small; it changed everything for me.
Two hip replacements and the teacher had a version of every pose before I asked. The strength class rebuilt my balance from "holding the wall" to "what's next".
Prenatal class was my Thursday therapy for both pregnancies. Trimester-smart is the right word — she always knew what should be getting harder and what softer.
You don't need to be flexible to start. That is like needing to be clean to have a bath.
Do I need to book ahead?
Fifteen mats, so yes for evening and Sunday classes — the schedule page links each class. Mornings usually have room; the free first class is worth booking to be sure.
What do I bring?
Yourself in moveable clothes. Mats, blocks, straps and blankets are all here and laundered properly. If you have your own mat, bring it — but the studio ones are good, not penance.
I can't touch my toes.
You are the person the beginner class was designed around, not the exception we tolerate. Half the regulars started exactly there; the other half are being modest about where they started.
Is this hot yoga?
No. The room is warm, not performative — you will sweat in slow flow on a July evening, but nobody is turning the dial. The work is honest; the heat is incidental.
